Dr. Jason Aird

Audiologist, President, and CEO

Dr. Aird grew up in Dubuque, IA and earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Northern Iowa in 1992 and 1994 respectively. 

Dr. Aird grew up in Dubuque, IA and earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Northern Iowa in 1992 and 1994 respectively. After a clinical residency in audiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Dr. Aird joined the staff at Iowa Audiology in 1995. He earned his Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from the University of Florida. Dr. Aird has served as the vice chair on the Iowa Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology Examiners, the advisory board for the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and as the treasurer for the Iowa Association of Hearing Health Professionals. He currently serves as the chair for the OtoHealth organization and a trustee on the board of directors for the Preucil School of Music. Dr. Aird enjoys spending time with his family, home projects, playing tennis and gardening with his wife.

Dr. Amanda Carr

Audiologist

Dr. Carr grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA and earned her B.A. (2007) and Au.D. (2011) degrees from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Carr grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA, and earned her B.A. (2007) and Au.D. (2011) from the University of Iowa.  She did her clinical residency at the University of Iowa and worked there for several years before relocating to Portland, OR, where she worked for Oregon Health and Science University.  She returned to Iowa in 2017 to be closer to family and joined the Iowa Audiology team in early 2018.  Dr. Carr is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association.  She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, reading, camping, and cheering on the Hawkeyes.

Dr. Klimara grew up in Brookfield, WI. She earned her B.A. from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN and her Au.D. from Purdue University.

Dr. Klimara grew up in Brookfield, WI. She earned her B.A. from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN and her Au.D. from Purdue University. After spending a few years working at the University of Michigan, she recently moved to Iowa with her husband and is excited to join the Iowa Audiology team. Dr. Klimara is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association. She loves running, drawing, and exploring new ways to make coffee.

Katie grew up in Winfield, IA. She earned her bachelor’s in communication sciences and disorders in 2017.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, and watching Iowa Hawkeye basketball.

Jeni grew up in Kalona, Iowa.  She graduated with her BA in Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and continued her education with her Masters in Quality Education from Graceland University.

She is currently pursuing her Au.D. at the University of Iowa. Trudy joined the Iowa Audiology team in October 2022 and is excited for the opportunity to learn and grow as a rising audiologist. In her free time, Trudy enjoys cooking, traveling, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs!

Kenneth L. Lowder, Au.D.

Founder, Emeritus

Dr. Lowder grew up in Lovington, IL and earned his bachelor's degree from the Eastern Illinois University in 1964 and his master's degree from Chicago's DePaul University in 1968.

Dr. Lowder grew up in Lovington, IL and earned his bachelor's degree from the Eastern Illinois University in 1964 and his master's degree from Chicago's DePaul University in 1968. After working in the Evanston, IL public schools, he moved to Iowa City in 1968. He worked as a speech and hearing consultant for the University of Iowa until 1981 when he founded Iowa Audiology and Hearing Aid Centers in Coralville, IA.

He earned his Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from the University of Florida. Dr. Lowder has served two terms as the president of the Iowa Association of Hearing Health Professionals. He also served on the Board of the Audiology Foundation of America and was the chair of the foundation from 2001-2006. He was appointed by former governor Terry Branstad to Iowa's Speech Pathology and Audiology Board of Examiners in 1998 and served as the chair of the board for four years.

He is married to the former Mary Wilmeth of Iowa City and has one son, Jarryd, a computer artist who lives in New York City. Dr. Lowder is now retired but very much enjoys stopping into the office, hoping to see and visit with his former patients. Dr. Lowder devoted over 50 years to helping patients with communicative problems, primarily those with hearing loss.
